Artist Spotlight: Sandi Wilson
Since moving to Baltimore over 5 years ago from the West Coast, Sandi Wilson put her successful photography business on hold and decided to focus mainly on encaustic paintings after being inspired by taking a Creative Alliance art class.
Sandi found she could beautifully meld the art side of her photography and painting with the depth that working with Encaustic (beeswax and Damar Resin ) could give her.
Her last private show, primarily acrylic and encaustic mix, focused on the beauty of the ocean as she has been inspired by visiting and exploring many East coast towns and also by the views of the harbor from her and her husband’s rooftop balcony by Patterson Park.
Sandi Wilson has been most recently commissioned to produce a series of six “Bio Paintings” for the new library at the prestigous St.John’s College High School working in conjunction with Highlandtowns own Felicia Zannino of Magnolia Designs. The panels will weave a story of the past 160 years of the school and will blend encaustic, acrylic and photo transfers . Sandi feels especially blessed for the opportunity to work on this project as Biblical and Christian values are close to her heart.
