Artist Spotlight: Emily C-D

Emily C-D is an interdisciplinary artist who splits her time between Baltimore and Mexico City. A process of exploration, collection, and appropriation of found materials and existing spaces informs her work. Her practice spans the gamut from installation and sculpture, to illustration and collage, costume, performance, and mural painting.

Community Spotlight: Sandra Abbott

This month’s artist is not an artist… exactly.

Artist Spotlight: Bethann Wilson

Bethann Wilson is a professional oil-painter based in the Highlandtown Arts District. Originally from Long Island, NY, Ms. Wilson graduated with a BFA in 2005 from Maryland Institute College of Art where she majored in painting. It was there she studied with the late Carl Plansky, founder of Williamsburg Paints- a NY-based company specializing in high-end, hand-made oil paints. Plansky encouraged her to simply paint for the love of painting and to channel her emotional energy and creativity into her work.

Artist Spotlight: Mark Supik

Mark Supik and his wife Nancy own and operate Mark Supik & Co. Woodturning in Baltimore, Maryland.  A family business, the shop produces architectural millwork for historic restorations, custom turnings for furniture makers and beer taps for microbreweries.  On the weekends, Mark’s shop becomes a woodturning school.

Artist Spotlight: Dominique Zeltzman

Dominique Zeltzman’s interest in mapping everyday moments through photography, sculpture and installation, evolved from mapping everyday movements through choreography and video. Inspired by life’s residue, her current project, Detritustrata explores ways we mark time in our tides of garbage, piles of laundry, and dirty dishes. Opening Reception at Schiavone Fine Art Gallery on September 10th from 6 - 8 PM, the images capture the color and composition found in the offal of daily meals.
