Art Cargo:
Gorgeous Imagination

Opens Sat Jan 8, 5:30-7:30pm.
On view Jan 8-22.
@ Creative Alliance. Free.

In ART CARGO’s immersive installation, a string of paper maché eyeballs dangles from a hole in the stomach of a looming, cartoonish figure. Dark blue and purple cellophane covers the floor, and the walls are patterned with bright red cherries. The DC-based artist began as a painter and illustrator, then scaled her work up, to create bizarre, narrative environments, where the story is constructed as much from the relationship of the viewer’s body to the work as it is from imagery straddling hilarity and dementia.
