This is the second annual celebration of all things censorship-free, as championed by Frank Zappa whose statue was erected at last year’s event. Those who attended last year were treated to a an impromptu performance of the tie-dyed, sandal-wearing crowd and a guy with a Frank Zappa mask dancing in the middle of Eastern Avenue.
This year the official commemoration of Frank Zappa day is punctuated by a manifesto by the district artists pledging to unite on the 17th for a celebration of all things creative and unconventional in art and music. Associated events surrounding the main concert this year include a Charm City Skate Park half pipe, fire dancers, Red Emma’s Banned Book Fair, tattoo artists, lots of beer, and an after party that promises to rock the roof off of the Creative Alliance.

ManiFESTo is produced by Clearpath Entertainment and the Southeast Community Development Corporation in collaboration with the Zappa Family Trust, Mission Media, Highlandtown Arts & Entertainment District, The Creative Alliance at the Patterson, and the Enoch Pratt Free Library.
